So we had our ward Christmas Party the day after our Annual Ducker Christmas Party. Dorian opened that day and was due to be home around 4:30 or 5:00. Well, he didn't end up getting home until about 8:00pm. So the boys ventured out on our own and had soup and salad for dinner and then some desserts after that. It almost seems easier to take care of them when I'm by myself at these types of functions, rather than with Dorian there. Only because you're not relying on the other person for help.
After eating there was a Christmas Program which JD felt the need to clap after every song and say "YEA!!!"
Then we were off to wait in line for Santa! James still didn't want anything to do with him, but Carson never forgets to tell santa his name and how he wants a bouncy ball for christmas! I can REALLY APPRECIATE this request. A little bouncy ball. That's easy enough. Other kids were asking for 4-wheelers and all sorts of expensive gifts! I wouldn't mind if he kept his requests small like this forever, but one can only wish right?
Here are some pictures from the party. Dorian was able to show up to wait in line for Santa with us. What a good husband, because that was the most stressful part of the night!
ps. I know I'm wearing the same shirt! It was new and it made me feel festive!!! :o)

Ward Christmas Party

Annual Ducker Christmas Party
So, we moved into our house in the summer, and we were nominated to hold our christmas party here at our house this year. I had a blast! I made everyone (10) individual amish friendship breads and wrapped them with pretty gold ribbon. Then I decided I would have a good time and be festive and make baby pretzels dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with red and green sprinkles and THEN I had to really clean the house! Besides cleaning I would do it over and over again...like EVERY weekend! Dorian would kill me though. :o)
We had a white elephant gift exchange, and Dorian and I got a plunger and put a $5.00 bill rolled up in the handle. I called it, THE MYSTERY PLUNGER! I didn't reveal the mystery until the end of the exchange. I got a t-shirt from wet seal, which was a good thing considering 1/2 of the girls that were there were pregnant! Oh the perks of not carrying a child in your stomach!!!! I can REALLY appreciate this.
We had lots of good food and lot of fun with all of out friends!
I was thinking that we would have someone else do it next year, so we could get a break, but now I'm thinking we might just do it here again. It was too much fun to pass up again.
Hope you all are enjoying the holidays!

A PRINCESS OR SOMETHING
Carson always calls me a "princess or something." So sweet. It was the day of our ward Christmas Party, and Carson knew Santa would be there. He woke up from his nap, and said, "Mom, can we go see santa now?" I said, "NO!!!! I still have to take a shower and get ready so I look like a princess." This is when Carson responded with, "But you already a princess....see? Just a different kind of princess."
HA! I would like to know what kind that is exactly!!! I was PRETTY SCARY LOOKING

"But me don't want a ghost in my tummy!"
Last night I was baking my Amish Friendship Bread. The kids were sitting at the bar like they always do. They love to watch me bake and cook. We were just chatting when Carson looked at the picture of Jesus on the fridge. He said, "I want to go see Jesus." This took us into a LONG conversation basically summing up that when people die they go to heaven and see Jesus. Having said this, I didn't want him to want to die just to see Jesus, so I told him more. We talked about how some of the prophets in the book of Mormon and Bible also saw Jesus, like Nephi and Moroni. I told him that he probably wouldn't see Jesus, but he just had to have faith and keep saying his prayers to talk to Heavenly Father and Jesus. He then said, "but he no hear me!"
I was beginning to feel defeated and flustered. How in the world was I going to satisfy him? I told him that when we pray, the way we know that Heavenly Father and Jesus are listening to us is a good feeling we get inside. This feeling is the Holy Ghost. So, when we get answers to our prayers or good feelings that is the Holy Ghost talking to us for Jesus. The Holy Ghost gives us good feelings inside. That's when Carson, being very disturbed, said, "But me don't want a ghost in my tummy!" I couldn't help but laugh. I said, "a ghost in your tummy?" He said, "that's what you said mommy....a ghost!" I told him that it wasn't a scary ghost just a nice feeling in our tummy. That was just his name, The Holy Ghost. He FINALLY said, "Oh."
I had finally satisfied his curiosity. It was a story I don't ever want to forget. Children can be so funny sometimes!

Shy birthday boy...
JD was being very, very shy during the birthday song. Let's be honest though. We're VERY lucky that he didn't break into tears. Half of the time that is actually what would happen. So for him to just hide his face...well, I can deal with that! :o)
Here is a picture of the pie, and of James scarfing it down!

THE BIRTHDAY BOY (15 days late)
So, JD's birthday was on the 5th, but we decided to wait until Granny came to visit us to actually celebrate.
We did the party after our Thanksgiving Dinner on the Tuesday of that week. It turned out nice, and we had YUMMY caramel pie for his cake! YUM, YUM!!

Silly Face
These happen to be the only pictures taken of our Thanksgiving Day and dinner. Weird. The only reason the camera got busted out in the first place was because James was being HILARIOUS!

The Dark Hair Bandwagon...
So, it seems I jumped on a bandwagon that I didn't know existed. I chopped off my hair, and dyed it dark. I love the color, but the cut was frustrating the 1st day. It didn't help that I couldn't get a good pic to save my life. It was a long hard day to say the least. So here you are, stuck viewing an OK pic. One that I got out of maybe taking at least 50 pictures. ENJOY, seriously! :o)
