Today Carson asked me, "Mom how did Jen get a baby in her tummy?" I was shocked. Are we already starting these questions?? He's not even 4 yet! I thought for a moment, and then said, "When a mommy and daddy love each other, then they have babies. Now I have you and James, and I just love my babies!" Well, that worked, thank goodness! Then he told me, "Mom, I want you to get a baby in your tummy. You can have like 5 maybe." I replied with a very QUCIK, "No way Jose!!! I just want you and JD for a while. You two make me happy. Someday we'll have one more." The conversation was over. It was a good thing too. I don't need to convince Carson along with all my friends that now is NOT the time to have more babies in the Ducker family. I think I'll go knock on some wood now. :o)

Oh, the sweet innocence of kids. If only it could stay that way forever. :)

Wow. This, right on the heels of Melinda's questioning.
Just a couple days ago, she asked if Heavenly Father put the babies in mommies' tummies. I replied, "sort of...."
"But how do they get there?"
Ahhh, I really didn't want to go there yet. Especially not while I was driving. I went as far as explaining that mommies have eggs, a little bit like the eggs that birds and ducks have, and so on. And then we quickly changed topics.
I like your very simple response, although I don't think it would have satisfied Melinda, who is all about the "HOW???" these days.
But I have a fantastic book from the Church, called "A Parent's Guide". You can get it from the distribution center for super cheap/free shipping:
http://www.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10151&productId=40819&langId=-1&sortId=3&sortOr=1&sTerm=a+parent%27s+guide&sNVPs=%26beginIndex%3D0%26pageSize%3D200%26searchTerm%3Da%2Bparent%2527s%2Bguide%26searchType%3DALL%26sType%3DSimple%26pageId%3D1%26pageCt%3D15&retURLtext=Back%20to%20'a%20parent's%20guide'%20Search&retURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ldscatalog.com%2Fwebapp%2Fwcs%2Fstores%2Fservlet%2FCatalogSearchResultView%3FcatalogId%3D10151%26amp%3BstoreId%3D10151%26amp%3BlangId%3D-1%26beginIndex%3D0%26pageSize%3D200%26searchTerm%3Da%2Bparent%2527s%2Bguide%26searchType%3DALL%26sType%3DSimple%26pageId%3D1%26pageCt%3D15%26sortId%3D3%26sortOr%3D1
It goes into a lot of detail about raising kids and teaching about sensitive things like sexuality, and also the appropriate way to deal with things like kids touching themselves or intimate "play". I think it's time for me to re-read the section about talking about intimacy. I doubt I'll be lucky enough to put off Melinda's questions next time.
But honestly, get this book! After reading it once, I was blown away by it. All I can say is that I can't think of a more Christ-like way to teach and respond to children about such sensitive topics. And in today's world, the better we can teach these things, the better off our kids will be!
It cuts off the link, darnit.
Anyway, go to www.ldscatalog.com
And search for item # 31125000.
You can just reply to me here, through your comments section, instead of going off-topic on my other blog posts ;) I promise I'll keep tabs on things!
But yes, it is the distribution center. If they have real physical stores you can get to, more power to you! But the link and search info I shared will get the book for you through the distribution center. Even though it says ldscatalog.com, it is the distribution center website, too.
That is funny! I can't wait for when you do have another one! Maybe you'll get a girl or have all three the same! :)
Your babies are so beautiful! I remember when Isaac asked where babies came from, and I told him they come from Heavenly Father and mommies and then he said "how does Heavenly father put babies in their tummies." Anyway, there was a long silence and then he said, "oh I know, that's when the Stork helps out right?" (He had just watched Dumbo for the first time) He was satisfied with his own answer. I was relieved and told Bryce that he better get something ready for the next time because I am going to send the boys to him...Parenting...yikes!
Look at all that hair!! CUTE!
I love the picture of you and your boys on the side of your blog. It is so adorable. who took it?
Oh, Baby Budda picture of Carson! You have cute babies, I can't wait to see what the next one looks like!!!! ;)
Brandi-
Thanks for the compliment. My friend Lisa took it. She's not a photographer, but she should be, and she should charge too! Hopefully the next time she stops by she'll take some when Dorian decides NOT to go golfing! :o)
Erin-
Yes, it will be fun to see what the next one will look like, but we'll be waiting for a LONG time to see the results!
That is too funny, especially the comment about having 5 babies :) Rex keeps asking when he can have a baby sister. Ummmm, we'll wait a while on that one :)
